Meet Pat

Pat Flanigan has been a part of our community for over 30 years, moving to rural Clay County after her husband was hired by Gateway Computers. She worked at the University of South Dakota Medical School as a Financial Administration Supervisor. Since retirement, she has served as the volunteer Director of the Salvation Army Emergency Fund. Her work with struggling families around our community is what inspired her to run for the Clay County Commission.

Pat is active in the Vermillion community, serving on the board of directors for the Vermillion Community Foundation and the Vermillion Community Theatre board, where she runs the light board for their yearly shows. She also sings in the University of South Dakota Symphonic Choir and is a member of the United Church of Christ Vermillion, Congregational.

Pat was  married to her late husband, Ed, for 47 years and has two children and four grandchildren.

Her reason for running for Commission is simple: she cares about the future of Clay County. As a resident of rural Clay County, she sees the need for continued cooperation between the city and county governments.
